Mary E. Lee, 1910-2003, Adel, Iowa

Mary Ellen Lee, 93, of Adel, Iowa, formerly of Versailles, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Adel Acres Care Center in Adel.

She was born Jan. 19, 1910, in Proctor, a daughter of Richard and Lulu Braden Bradshaw. On Nov. 18, 1931, she was married to Charles M. Lee, who died July 20, 1972.

Mrs. Lee was led to Christ by a missionary in Proctor. She lived most of her adult life in Versailles, before moving to Adel seven years ago. She worked at the Tweedie Factory and Versailles Bifocal Plant for several years.

Surviving are three daughters, Anna L. Campbell, of Union, Mary F. Harvey, of Adel, and Ruby J. Joens, of Des Moines, Iowa; three stepsons, Greg Lee, of Versailles, Charles D. Lee, of St. Louis and Robert E. Lee, of Greenacres, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Ola Bowen, of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Harley Bradshaw, Ray Bradshaw, Roy Bradshaw and Orville Bradshaw; and a sister, Hazel Moritzky.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Jim Kruse officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery near Barnett. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to First Southern Baptist Church in Adel.
